General Information:

James Madison University (JMU) is accepting applications on a continual basis for part-time Housekeeping Workers. FM Housekeeping offers flexible scheduling/hours, with various shift options. Part-time staff can work up to 29 hours per week.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform regular and special cleaning of assigned areas using manual tools and power equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and auto scrubbers.
• Understand and practice all university safety procedures, particularly as they relate to equipment operation and chemical use.
• Participate in the university’s trash/recycling program.

 

Qualifications:

Required:
• Experience performing a variety of cleaning tasks.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to clean materials containing bloodborne pathogens and ability to use strong chemicals to clean.
• A positive attitude and a desire to work together to keep the facilities of the JMU campus welcoming and beautiful are essential.
• Ability to demonstrate basic proficiency in English.

Additional Considerations:
• Ability to operate buffers, scrubbers, and waxers for cleaning.

Conditions of Employment:  

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
