General Information:

James Madison University’s Facilities Management is accepting applications for a Plumber Steamfitter Sr. to perform Master level technical tasks in plumbing, gas, fire sprinkler, and steamfitting trades. This position requires participation in an on-call rotation.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates as a member of a team providing plumbing, steam, and other trade services to complete assigned projects.
  • Services, maintains, inspects, and repairs plumbing, steam, fire sprinkler, food service, heating, and other equipment as assigned,
  • Installs plumbing, steam, or other equipment as assigned. Installation may include design and/or specification elements.
  • Records and provides information as requested.
  • Communicated important information to the supervisor or other designated individuals

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with commercial, institutional, and residential plumbing, heating, steam equipment, fire sprinklers, food service equipment, welding, soldering, and plumbing code
  • Master level plumbing/steam fitting skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Skilled in dealing with a wide assortment of personalities both directly and indirectly
  • Master plumber certification required within two years of hire into the position
  • Backflow certification required within two years of hire into the position
  • A Valid Driver's License

Conditions of Employment:  

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and an acceptable MVR.
