General Information:

The Department of Health Professions in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS) at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Dietetics program at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 10, 2026. The Dietetics program is comprised of an undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics and the Applied Nutrition graduate program, both accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The faculty member will work collaboratively with faculty from the other programs in the Department of Health Professions (Athletic Training, Health Services Administration, Occupational Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies), as well as with other academic units within CHBS.

Duties and Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will:
1. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Dietetics and Applied Nutrition.
2. Serve as coordinator of graduate supervised experiential learning.
3. Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
4. Supervise graduate student capstone projects.
5. Maintain scholarship and service activities at the department, college, university, and professional levels.

 

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Current Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist credential.
2. Earned doctoral degree in nutrition and dietetics or a related area is required; ABD candidates will be considered if completion of doctoral degree occurs within six months of hire date.
3. Evidence of ability or experience in teaching nutrition and dietetics courses.
4. Evidence of ability or experience coordinating students and preceptors in supervised experiential learning sites.
5. Evidence of ability to establish a scholarly agenda and professional development.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Evidence of ability to mentor students in an academic or professional setting.
2. Evidence of comprehensive expertise across nutrition and dietetics, with the ability to contribute broadly to the curriculum; preference given to candidates with expertise in medical nutrition therapy, management, or food service.
3. Evidence of interest in interprofessional education and collaborative practice.
4. Evidence of experience or interest in professional service and collaboration.
