General Information:

The Facilities Management Department at James Madison University is accepting applications for an HVAC Repair Senior Technician. This is a day shift position with rotating on-call responsibilities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:
•Performs repairs and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems and related equipment.
•Completes inspection on equipment and repairs problems in timely manner.
•Documents refrigerant usage for EPA records.
•Properly installs equipment to code.
•Provides input for the replacement of HVAC and refrigeration systems, when needed.
•Performs seasonal maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems to provide reliable and efficient operation.
•Follows JMU and manufacturer’s procedures.
•Assists associates when needed.
•Assists with training of other technicians.
•Responsible for managing jobs, ordering needed parts, keeping tools and equipment in good working condition.
•Effectively manages time.
•Keeps shop, parts, materials and paperwork organized.
•Cleans and services tools and tests equipment.

 

Qualifications:

•The successful candidate must have considerable demonstrated working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration and related equipment.
•Demonstrated ability to use various test instruments to troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems and to repair such systems and equipment.
•This position requires effective organizational skills, attention to detail and a positive attitude.
•Must have effective skills in communicating clear and concise instructions both verbally and in writing.
•The ability to assist other technicians and also have the ability to work independently.
•Must be available for on-call/overtime.
•Successful candidate must have Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification.
•Successful candidate must be at least 19 years old and have a valid drivers license for a minimum of 24 months.
