The Department of Computer Science within the College of Integrated Science and Engineering (CISE) at James Madison University invites applications for a one-year visiting lecturer position to serve in the Information Technology (IT) Major to begin August 2026. The B.Sc. in Information Technology (IT) is one of two undergraduate degrees offered by the Department of Computer Science at JMU, with a focus on computer networking, cybersecurity, web technologies, data science/machine learning and mobile development. The IT major accepted our first freshman class in Fall 2022 and has more than 250 students and is rapidly growing. The JMU Computer Science department is a dynamic and supportive community with 32 full-time faculty members and approximately 900 undergraduate majors across computer science and information technology majors. We also offer an online M.S. Degree in Computer Science concentration in Cybersecurity. We are dedicated to maintaining a culture that balances excellence in teaching and small class sizes with opportunities for faculty and student research. We have many active clubs and organizations including TechLink, Women in Technology, Robotics, Forensics, Unix Club, Cyber Defense, and a student ACM chapter. Teaching Post Doctoral Associate (Two Positions) - Department of Engineering

The Department of Engineering at James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for two teaching post-doctoral associates. This opportunity combines instructional experience, mentorship, and professional development to enable candidates to develop their pedagogical skills and a robust scholarship program in an undergraduate engineering context. Post-doctoral associates will teach within the Engineering curriculum while receiving individual mentorship from JMU faculty and will be provided opportunities to develop their own professional portfolio. This is a fixed-term appointment at the rank of instructor. The appointment is for two 10-month periods, the first 10-month period will start August 10th, 2026, and the second 10-month period will start in August 2027. In the first period, associates will teach within the engineering fundamentals and design courses (ENGR 112, 231, and 232) and will work with an instructional team to enhance their instructional approaches and methods. In the second 10-month period, associates will have the opportunity to expand their experiences through opportunities such as: teaching upper-level courses, developing special topics courses, supervising undergraduate research or mentoring capstone projects. The specifics will be tailored to the individual and needs of the department, in consultation with the Academic Unit Head and their mentors.

The Department of Engineering at James Madison University (JMU) invites applicants to join our community and support our project-intensive undergraduate engineering curriculum. We are seeking to hire at least one Visiting Lecturer to start in August 2026. The position will be for an initial ten-month period; there may be the possibility of a subsequent one-time renewal. The JMU Department of Engineering is a community of educators committed to contributing to a welcoming scholarly environment, who support each other in achieving broad success in teaching, scholarship, and service. The department offers an ABET-accredited BS degree in engineering with new concentrations in civil and environmental, geo-environmental, and electromechanical systems. Anchored in the liberal arts through the university’s general education program, JMU’s engineering major is characterized by experiential learning of engineering in team-based settings, and the major culminates in a two-year-long engineering project experience. The department currently has fifteen tenured or tenure-track faculty members representing multiple engineering disciplines, seven support staff, and approximately 750 students. Its strengths include dedicated faculty and staff, an engaged and invested student body and alumni, strong administrative and lab support, and well-equipped laboratories and design studios. JMU prizes collaboration among departments and provides unique opportunities for interdisciplinary, team-based teaching and scholarship, with a strong focus on undergraduate research opportunities.
