General Information:
The School of Art, Design, and Art History is seeking a part-time Public Relations Specialist to manage the School's website, weekly newsletter distribution, online calendar, promotions for events, and digital signage. This is a part-time position (29 hours per week, on average) with no benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day support for the School's public relations and promotions including the website, social media, weekly newsletter, online calendar, and digital signage. The employee will also complete training for job-related JMU systems. Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
-Maintain the School's website
-Prepare and distribute a weekly email newsletter highlighting upcoming events, faculty/staff/student accomplishments, etc.
-Support the public relations needs of the director, faculty, staff, and students.
-Attendance at evening or weekend events may be necessary.
-Develop and execute a social media strategy in conjunction with the School's director.
-Work collaboratively with the College's Marketing & Branding director.
-Write articles for the School's website.
-Update degree checklists, manuals, and other School documents as needed.
-Assist with Graphic Design needs for the School.
-Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-Fluency in Excel, Photoshop, Word, InDesign, and Adobe Suite software.
-Writing and technology proficiency.
-Knowledge of, and experience with, digital cameras.
-Experience with maintaining websites and other social media.
-Highly developed organizational skills and strong attention to details; ability to multitask and balance several deadlines at once.
-The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, interest in programs offered within the School of Art, Design, and Art History, and be a motivated self-starter who is comfortable working both independently and within a group setting.
