General Information:

Pathfinders offer peer-to-peer consulting to best support student organizations and individuals in their leadership development. Pathfinders provide one-on-one involvement consulting for students and resource coaching for student organization leaders. By connecting students and organizations with campus resources, Pathfinders help build community and foster engagement across campus.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide Involvement Consulting to JMU students

Provide campus resource advisement for student organization leaders on campus

Offer peer education to emerging student organization leaders on the Start an Organization process

Assist in marketing and tabling for the greater Student Leadership Development area

Meet regularly with supervisor

Work a consistent and established schedule

Attend staff meetings as an active participant

Assist with events and programs as identified by supervisor

Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

Customer service experience or willingness to learn

Ability to problem solve and think about creative solutions

Strong listening skills

Strong communication skills

Ability to work a consistent schedule between 8am-5pm Monday through Friday

Takes Initiative or be a self-starter

Marketing experience or willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience leading a student organization or starting an organization on JMU's campus

Peer mentoring experience

Conditions of Employment:  

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
