General Information:

The College of Business is seeking a full-time Operations Manager to provide administrative support to the Office of Professional Development and Engagement. As an integral member of the College’s team, the Operations Manager will oversee daily operations of the office, manage the Office of Professional Development and Engagement’s budget, provide fiscal support to College of Business student organizations and office programming, coordinate college-wide events for student organizations and college admissions activities. This role involves regular collaboration with faculty and administrative staff to provide support to student programming and college admissions activities. The Operations Manager represents JMU and must exhibit high standards of professionalism and customer service. This position reports to the Director of Professional Development and Engagement.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the office, including the training and managing of student employees, management of the Hartman Hall employer space, prospective student tour scheduling, and virtual interview rooms.
• Arrange travel, processing travel authorizations and expense reimbursements, using and reconciling a JMU small purchase credit card.
• Coordinate, manage and process information related to College of Business scholarships, including preparing and routing relevant foundation paperwork and following up with the Office of Financial Aid.
• Plan and coordinate College of Business admissions activities and college-wide student organizations events and trainings. Events include, but are not limited to, Admissions Open Houses, Admitted Student Days, Beta Gamma Sigma induction ceremonies.
• Serve as a liaison to the Student Advisory Council who implement college tours for prospective students.
• Assist with graduating senior surveys and business school ranking surveys, under the direction of the Director of Professional Development and Engagement.
• Work with the college marketing director to compile information necessary for college fact sheets and other marketing materials.

• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively across in-person, virtual, and written formats.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance competing deadlines effectively.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to maintain professional behavior and problem-solving approach to work.
• Ability to work as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary and cross-trained team.
• Ability to build and maintain a strong understanding of University and College policies, procedures, and practices that support effective event planning and scheduling.
• Ability to build and sustain an understanding of the College of Business mission and academic programs.
• Demonstrated proficiency with managing and coordinating office processes.
• Exhibit advanced computer skills with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technology platforms and systems.
• Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.
