General Information:

The James Madison University Libraries seeks applicants for a full-time Library Finance Specialist to support the Dean’s Office. The position will coordinate and oversee fiscal activities for a complex set of Libraries Non-Personal Services (NPS) budgets, Foundation accounts, and any grants administered through Libraries. This position will also support the work of Libraries by ensuring fiscal practices are consistent, ensure compliance with all applicable state and university procurement and fiscal control policies and procedures, meet reporting requirements in service of Libraries and university needs and priorities, and support administrative decision-making through budget forecasting and analysis of trends.

The successful candidate will join an administrative team of dedicated professionals offering centralized support to the broader JMU Libraries organization. As a member of the highly collaborative Libraries Admin team, this position will participate in cross-training and back-up of critical core responsibilities.

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position with benefits. Normal work shifts for this position will align with regular university business hours.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

• Maintain and reconcile departmental budgets
• Prepare and approve orders through eVA, Virginia’s online procurement system
• Maintain and reconcile small purchase credit card(s) (SPCC)
• Manage and assist with the purchasing of equipment through ETF (Equipment Trust Fund)
• Serve as a resource to Libraries employees on fiscal policies and procedures
• Consult with the Dean’s office on budget matters and overall budget strategy
• Communicate with JMU partners and vendors
• Support the Libraries Administration team through engaged participation in cross-training and back-up of critical duties

 

Qualifications:

Required
The successful candidate must have:
• Relevant experience with finance, accounting, or fiscal management processes.
• Evidence of strong organizational skills with the ability to thoughtfully and effectively plan, implement, and oversee daily workflow tasks and projects.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office with a particular focus on Word and Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a dynamic, collegial, and collaborative environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to building environments that are accessible and welcoming.


Additional considerations
• Experience with the following software systems: PeopleSoft Finance, AiM, eVA, Fundriver, SPCC, or similar software programs.
• Knowledge of state and university expenditures guidelines and limitations for spending and procurement.
