General Information:
JMU's Facilities Management is currently seeking a Fire Alarm Technician/Inspector. This position will ensure that the proper management and diagnostic procedures of all fire alarm and suppression Cooking Hood Systems at are met in order to meet or exceed all required NFPA codes. Inspectors are responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, service and preventative maintenance of all fire alarms.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Maintaining of all fire alarms, hood systems and components across campus. This may
include troubleshooting malfunctions and completing repairs.
•Assisting in generating and maintaining accurate and timely records and reports relating
to fire alarm and suppression system operations, conditions and repairs.
•Assisting with maintaining adequate levels of equipment and supplies for the various
systems on campus.
•Ensuring that the life safety department has the right type and quantity of replacement
parts on hand.
•Assisting with all service contracts performed by outside contractors on fire alarm and
suppression systems.
Qualifications:
•Thorough knowledge of:
NFPA regulations
National Electric Code
OSHA requirements
General Work Safety Procedures
•Working Knowledge of the theory of operation of various fire protection systems and
equipment
•Extensive journey level or skilled experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of
fire alarm systems
•Ability to follow written and verbal communications
•Ability to temporarily work another shift or respond to after working hours emergencies
and special events when needed
•Ability to fulfill all on call obligations and handle on call requests promptly and in
accordance to supervisor's expectations
•Valid Driver's License
