General Information:
The Office of Student Life at James Madison University is currently seeking applicants for a part-time position in the Event Management team. This position will help in developing, implementing, and supporting the Program Registration process for recognized student organizations and managing the JMU Campus Master Calendar through the Event Management Software. This position serves as a campus security authority under the Jean Cleary Campus Safety Act.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Event Assistant for Program Registration primarily serves as a Program Registration Advisor and jointly administers Event Management Software (EMS) Master Calendar to build awareness of JMU events.
Serves as a Program Registration Advisor. Assists in determining what recognized student organizations (RSOs) need to successfully plan and execute a program on JMU’s campus. Collaborates with the Event Management Schedulers to schedule meetings between Student Event Planners and the assigned Program Registration Advisor to begin the process. Meets with RSOs to assign relevant tasks based on the complexity of their requested programs. Serves as a main point of contact for RSOs throughout the course of the event planning process through the conclusion of the event. Provide RSOs clear guidelines, required deadlines, information on relevant policy, and guidance on effective program planning. Assists in maintaining the Program Registration central database to track RSOs events. Collaborate with Student Life, other Student Affairs departments, Information Technology, University Events, Academic leadership, Athletics, external clients, and student organizations to ensure quality delivery of services, understanding of policy, and continuous improvement
Manage permissions, special dates, and announcements in EMS Master Calendar, a component of EMS university scheduling software. Work with the software API and Webservices to create/edit RSS feeds and XML output for custom web consumption to display EMS content.
Prepares/edits content for variety of specific output. Possible content types include: Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Web Content, Live Data from Excel, EMS, XML, RSS, Separated Text (CSV), Date & Time, Text Files, and RSS Feeds.. Assists in the development and delivery of EMS training material for students, faculty, and staff.
This position is expected to be independently responsible for assigned area and program objectives.

This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
