General Information:
JMU's Facilities Management department is looking for a skilled Air Emissions Specialist to play a key role in ensuring the safe and environmentally responsible operation of our stationary fossil fuel equipment campus wide. This position will support environmental compliance and safety programs, assist with critical systems like our Title V Air Permit, Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan, and promote friendly initiatives across campus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Monitoring and supporting adherence to local, state and federal environmental
regulations
•Analyzing of environmental data, conducting audits and preparing reports for regulatory
agencies
•Developing and implementing strategies to reduce emissions, waste and environmental
impact
•Overseeing the proper handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials
•Maintaining compliance documentation which will include the SPCC plan, SDS manuals,
and Title V operating permits
Qualifications:
•Ability to have positive communication and interpersonal skills and interact with
employees and stake holders at all levels of the organization
•Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment with a
commitment to continuous improvement and excellence
•Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, safety management and/or risk
mitigation
•Significant professional experience working in environmental sciences
•Ability to create and maintain complex emission reports in a timely manner
•Ability to guide compliance efforts and implement sustainable strategies
