General Information:
JMU’s School of Professional & Continuing Education (SPCE) collaborates with individuals, business, and communities through transformative educational programs and experiences. SPCE offers a range of programs, including youth camps, adult degree completion, professional and workforce development, and lifelong learning, as well as partners with academic units across JMU to support a number of online or off-campus degree and certificate programs. SPCE seeks an Academic Support Coordinator to provide support for degree, certificate, and other credit-based programs that SPCE partners with across campus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work directly with SPCE leadership and academic partners to coordinate support responsibilities, including connecting partners with resources and processes within and beyond SPCE.
Coordinate with SPCE Director of Marketing & Recruiting on website updates and marketing materials for academic partner programs.
Collaborate with other support offices on campus to ensure strong customer service and clear policies and processes for students participating in these programs.
Manage and plan events and programs as needed (such as the Virginia Department of Corrections annual teacher recertification courses).
Coordinate dual enrollment courses with academic partners and school divisions as needed, including training, process evaluation, enrollment management, and new program development.
Coordinate annual memorandum of agreement process for each program with each college, including updating documents with the latest agreements, gathering signatures, and maintaining files.
Work closely with academic partners to coordinate annual program director agreements.
Cross-train with Credit Programs Administrator to process applications using CollegeNet and PeopleSoft, process course registrations and coordinate detailed enrollment confirmations, and provide excellent customer service.
Conduct detailed enrollment analyses, projections, demographic analysis, and other evaluations as needed. Provide and coordinate data queries from JMU systems to other offices and academic units as needed.
Partner with academic units and Planning, Analytics, and Institutional Research (PAIR) to gather and submit data for annual rankings surveys (such as U.S. News & World Reports).
Explore new ways to recruit, advocate for, and support non-degree seeking students, creating opportunities for access to higher education for underserved populations.
Partner with other members of SPCE, specifically the Finance and Operations team, to coordinate efforts and integrate program coordination responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in higher education program management.
- Data analysis and evaluation skills.
- Strong customer service skills and experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the willingness to find solutions to complex issues.
Additional Considerations:
- Experience with non-traditional populations in higher education.
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft, Salesforce, CollegeNet, Tableau, or other higher education management or analysis tools.
- Experience in marketing and/or event planning.
- Project management experience; certification in project management is a plus.
