General Information:

Balanced Dukes, the wellness and well-being program for faculty and staff at JMU, is seeking qualified instructors to lead yoga classes for our Faculty & Staff Fitness Program. Classes will be held on campus on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings; 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Instructors will sign up to teach the classes that they can commit to teaching.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties:
• Leading engaging and dynamic yoga classes tailored to participants of varying skill levels; • Instructors are responsible for providing any audio needed for the class
• Creating and delivering safe, well-structured yoga sessions
• Offer personalized guidance and adjustments to ensure proper form, alignment, and effectiveness of each pose
• Educating participants on the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga
• Designing class sequences that challenge and relax, while incorporating elements of strength, flexibility, and endurance suited for gym members

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
• Experience teaching yoga classes to individuals or groups
• Strong knowledge of different yoga styles, techniques, and principles
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for participants of all backgrounds and abilities
• Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification in yoga instruction from a recognized organization or institution is preferred

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

This is a part-time wage position working up to 2 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
