General Information:

WMRA seeks a reporter/producer to host All Things Considered live, Monday - Friday 4pm-6:30pm. This position will also conduct and produce local radio interviews highlighting issues and news events in our region and distribute locally produced content through WMRA digital channels.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Host on-air shift from 4pm to 6:30pm Monday through Friday. Breaks are well-prepared ahead of time, utilizing WMRA standards for good radio which include effective forward promotion, proper identification of the station, short, concise breaks, variation in delivery and presentation, and a friendly and conversational style that is consistent with WMRA's style.

In coordination with WMRA's News Director, develop topic ideas that touch on current issues and events, then select and schedule guests for interviews. This position is expected to produce 2-3 interviews per week which will air during All Things Considered. When appropriate, this position will produce short form excerpts of interviews for use in WMRA local newscasts.

 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
• Radio on-air and production skills, including digital audio editing required.
• Journalism experience required.

Additional Considerations:
• Experience with public radio hosting, programming, radio journalism and strategies.
• Familiarity with NPR news production standards.
