The University Career Center’s mission is to “prepare and empower all students in every aspect of their career development.”
We are seeking an Operations Student Assistant for the 2025-2026 academic year to provide general office support for about 10 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations Student Assistant will:
Provide front desk coverage in the University Career Center office (at the appointments desk).
Greet students as they arrive and answer phones.
Provide great customer service to students, families, and others who come into UCC or call.
Conduct friendly phone calls to JMU graduates about their career outcomes (their first job or graduate program after graduation).
Provide Career Closest support which could include sorting donations, organizing closet, and maintaining general upkeep
Schedule student appointments with UCC Career Advisors.
Approve job and internship postings in Handshake.
Provide administrative support to UCC staff as needed with office projects.
Provide programmatic support for UCC events such as the Career Fairs
Qualifications:
A successful applicant should:
Be a current full-time JMU undergraduate student through Spring 2026.
Be available to work 10 hours a week during our business hours, Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm
Be detail-oriented, organized, positive, and reliable.
Be able to work independently.
Have experience with Windows and Microsoft Office.
Be willing to learn new skills required to complete job responsibilities.

Conditions of Employment:
Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
