General Information:

The Center for Global Engagement is seeking a Study Abroad Programs Intern to support the work of the Study Abroad office, particularly the work of the Associate Director. The Programs Intern will assist with various tasks including database management, passport and visa management, course registration, website management, marketing and communications, market research, advising students on study abroad, and event planning and coordinating. They may assist in various administrative tasks (scanning, copying, errand-running, etc.) as needed. The Programs Intern must be comfortable learning new computer programs and must have a superior working knowledge of Excel.



The ideal candidate is a highly self-motivated student with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Applicants should have a strong attention to detail, superior time management and organizational skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills. A commitment to global engagement and international education is a plus.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:


Support with study abroad course creation and course enrollment, a process which includes regular correspondence with faculty program directors.

Event planning and coordination for small- and large-scale Study Abroad events.

Develop assets and materials to support promotional efforts, including, but not limited to, drafting social media posts and creating event and digital signage.

Maintain and update program webpages.

Assist in the batch processing of visa applications for select study abroad programs.

Maintains a professional appearance at all times including wearing a clean, logoed CGE shirt with professional bottoms. The Programs Intern will be issued one t-shirt and one sweatshirt as a uniform and are responsible for their cleaning and staying in good condition for the year.

Other administrative tasks as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Highly self-motivated; able to work independently and take initiative.

Interest and ability in a regular work schedule of 12 hours per week, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Attendance at some evening and weekend events is required.

Above average experience with Microsoft Office (spreadsheet and data management as well as word processing)

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Commitment to being punctual and reliable and maintaining a professional appearance

Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines



Preference will be given to applicants with experience working in an office setting or similar customer-oriented environment and/or with experience living, studying, or working outside the U.S.



Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
