General Information:

Student House Managers provide front of house support for audiences who come to any of our events in our five state-of-the-art performance venues.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Work an average of 12 to 16 hours per week; report 1.5 hours prior to weeknight evening performances and 1.5 hours prior to weekend matinee performances. Special event hours will vary. Must be able to work weekends.
-Prepare the public spaces for audience arrival
-Train ushers to greet patrons, distribute programs and audio enhancement devices, scan tickets at the door, escort patrons to their reserved seating, provide information about the facility, and ensure that “VIP” and handicapped patrons are properly seated.
-Coordinate with the stage manager for every show, and the Box Office staff regarding special seating issues.
-Control unauthorized access to the venues, help facilitate latecomer seating, enforce theatre policies and direct the safe and timely evacuation of the audience in the case of an emergency.
-Provide group event set up assistance for pre-or-post show events in the venue as needed.
-Other duties as assigned

-Excellent customer service, communications, and supervisory skills.
-Excellent organizational and time-management skills, and be able to inspire and motivate others.
-Maintain a positive demeanor; must be able to remain under pressure and be responsive to the needs of the audience and staff members.

 

Additional Posting Information:

Dress Code: business or business casual attire. Be aware that you are a representative of the Forbes Center and the College at all times.

 

Conditions of Employment:  

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).

Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
