The College of Health and Behavioral Studies is seeking a creative and motivated student to join our team as a Social Media Assistant. In this role, you’ll help tell the story of CHBS by creating dynamic, engaging photo and video content for our social media platforms. This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio while gaining hands-on experience in content creation, branding, and digital communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist professional staff with the following tasks:
- Create compelling photo and video content that highlights CHBS programs, students, and events
- Develop social media posts aligned with JMU branding and social media guidelines
- Contribute ideas during brainstorming sessions for posts, content series, and campaigns
- Communicate professionally with academic units, student organizations, and individuals across CHBS to identify and gather content opportunities

 

Qualifications:

- Experience with photography and/or video editing
- Familiarity with current social media platforms and trends
- Willingness to appear on camera when needed
- Comfortable spontaneously approaching and interviewing students, faculty, and staff
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom)
- Ability to manage files using internal platforms (e.g., Teams, Outlook, Trello)

Conditions of Employment:  

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
