General Information:

Student worker for the SMAD office.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as a multimedia journalist to cover developments for the SMAD website and related social media platforms as well as other communication duties. Lead tours and participate in outreach and recruiting events such as "Explore JMU" and "Choices" in the spring and SMAD Day. Should have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to greet visitors and help answer the phone in the office. The student worker also will create content including: written and visual stories for the SMAD website, posts on SMAD's Instagram account, slides for the TV in SMAD's hallway, and posters for SMAD-sponsored programming, among other outreach work. This requires following SMAD's most recent brand guide. The student worker will be encouraged to create compelling imagery in different ways, including web design, vector art, photography and potentially video.

 

Qualifications:

Be an fully admitted SMAD student and must know the SMAD program and its classes because this student will help handle inquiries from current and prospective SMAD students. Have completed SMAD 201 and 202 is required.

Conditions of Employment:  

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).

Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
