General Information:

The Information Technology Unit at James Madison University is accepting applications for a Senior Voice Engineer.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for the design, provisioning, deployment, integration, administration, and maintenance of voice services and systems.

 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the design, installation, management, and maintenance of
enterprise-level networked phone systems, including Voice over IP (VoIP), Contact
Center solutions, voicemail platforms, gateway, and related peripherals across multi-site
campus environments.
- Advance understanding of telecommunications industry standards, carrier circuit
delivery methods, and communication protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate phone systems from multiple manufacturers.
- In-depth expertise with NEC PBX systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams Phone capabilities and integrations.
- Solid knowledge of network infrastructure and protocols essential for supporting voice
services.
- Working knowledge of both inside and outside cable plant infrastructure.
- Basic understanding of electrical principles relevant to telecommunications.
- Awareness of applicable Federal, State, and local telecommunications regulations.
- Foundational knowledge of radio communication technologies.
