General Information:

The University Health Center provides a comprehensive array of health care services and health education programs to JMU students. Included in our health care services are several medical clinics, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory, and other programs that provide services for more than 30,000 patient encounters a year. UHC practices evidence-based medicine in a confidential, inclusive environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working as a medical administrative assistant in a student health center. This individual provides exceptional customer service to our university community by greeting and assisting all visitors; answering and transferring calls as necessary and taking messages as needed; assisting students with scheduling appointments; and providing information when requested pertaining to UHC services and events.

 

Qualifications:

Required:
• Courteous and respectful at all times to students and staff
• Customer service oriented
• Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds
• Maintain confidentiality at all times
• Experience dealing with and completing financial transactions in an accurate and efficient manner
• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to change
• General computer knowledge as well as Microsoft Office
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Team player
• Ability to multi-task

Additional Considerations:
• Medical office receptionist experience
• EHR (Electronic Health Record) experience
• Customer Service experience

 

Conditions of Employment:  

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
