General Information:

The Lab Operations Specialist assists with simulation and laboratory operations while supporting faculty, staff, and students in meeting learning outcomes. This position will be responsible for preparing a variety of lab environments for clinical learning experiences, executing scenario-based activities according to pre-designed templates, and assisting with daily lab operations. The Lab Operations Specialist supports simulation program administrative responsibilities, inventory management, simulation and information technology use and maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

The Lab Operations Specialist maintains skills in the operation of clinical simulation tools, which includes low, medium, and high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, and related medical equipment for use in lab and simulation-based experiences (SBEs). This position will initiate and facilitate SBEs using various simulation modalities, techniques, and approaches according to Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best PracticeTM.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Facilitates simulation-based experiences by configuring the lab environment to replicate the clinical setting, operating/troubleshooting simulation, information, and A/V technology, and staging classroom and lab environments for lab experiences. Assists with inventory management and equipment maintenance. Performs administrative and clerical duties as assigned. Participates in and supports engagement activities that increase the visibility of Nursing, the College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS), and the University.

 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would possess experience in a health-related field such as Nursing or Emergency/Military Medical Services. Knowledge in healthcare with an advanced understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and the management of clinical situations where critical decision-making is required. Experience with simulation and information technology, audio/visual equipment, and computer applications is desired. Administrative and/or clerical expertise is desired.

 

Additional Posting Information:

Applicants must be available 2-3 days per week between the hours of 2-10pm. Hours/days will vary based on need.

 

Conditions of Employment:  

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
