General Information:

James Madison University Foundation, Inc. is accepting applications for the position of Information Technology Analyst. The Information Technology Analyst will support Foundation IT operations, serve as the data manager for Foundation information systems, project manage IT initiatives, and provide exceptional end user support to Foundation staff.

James Madison University Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, formed to support and serve the James Madison University community. The Foundation accomplishes its mission through funds management efforts, including endowment management. The Foundation manages its own IT environment and data which is unique to most areas on campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide end user support and oversee hardware and software management: Initiate regular hardware ordering and troubleshoot hardware and software functionality issues for individual users. Develop and conduct user training as needed.
  • Serve as the Foundation’s IT liaison in collaboration with third-party IT support and the university" This role will regularly communicate with the Foundation’s managed IT service provider and lead IT project initiatives. Cross-functional collaboration among different departments and areas on campus, including JMU IT, will be required. This role will also function as the point of contact for strategic IT initiatives of the university involving the Foundation.
  • Support information management within the Foundation: Foundation information is used by a wide variety of university stakeholders. This position would develop and maintain business workflow documentation and assist with data transfer among systems. Data quality assurance, data privacy compliance, and ensuring adherence to Foundation data management policies will be key responsibilities of this position.
  • IT security and compliance lead for the Foundation: Manage user access roles, ensure the timeliness of software application upgrades, and review the design and operating effectiveness of IT security protocols. This position will be responsible for implementation of incident response plans, responding to security incidents, and addressing security assessment findings as needed.
  • Conduct research and analysis to find trends, best practices, and opportunities for innovation. Explore opportunities to automate existing business processes through new technologies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Knowledge of accounting information systems, business, and database management concepts.
  • Strong technical proficiency and Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience in hardware and software end user support and/or information systems project management.
  • Familiarity with IT security and compliance requirements, including data protection protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, communicate effectively, and lead change.
  • Proven track record of excellent customer service.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple daily priorities.

Additional Considerations:

  • Project management experience involving multiple stakeholders across divisions, departments or areas.
  • Prior technical support experience and/or data management experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Power Query, Microsoft Azure cloud environment, and software as a service providers.
