General Information:

James Madison University’s Facilities Management is accepting applications for full-time, day-shift housekeeping workers. Overtime may be required at times. Applicants will be contacted by phone or email as positions become available.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform regular and special cleaning of assigned areas using manual tools and power equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and auto scrubbers.
• Understand and practice all university safety procedures, particularly as they relate to equipment operation and chemical use.
• Participate in the university’s trash/recycling program.
• It is likely that staff will be moved on a regular basis, temporarily, to meet short-term business needs; such as summer cleans, special projects, shortages in other areas, etc.

 

Qualifications:

Required:
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform physically demanding job duties with or without an accommodation.
• Ability to work with industrial-strength chemicals and equipment including buffers, scrubbers, and waxers.
• Ability to clean materials containing bloodborne pathogens.
• Effective time-management skills.
• Attention to detail and basic customer service aptitude.
• Positive interpersonal skills and willingness to work cooperatively in a team environment are essential.
• Ability to demonstrate basic proficiency in English.

Additional Considerations:
• Experience performing a variety of cleaning tasks.
