General Information:

James Madison University’s Facilities Management is accepting applications for full-time, night-shift housekeeping workers. Applicants will be contacted via phone or email as positions become available.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform regular and special cleaning of assigned areas using manual tools and power equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and auto scrubbers.
Understand and practice all university safety procedures, particularly as they relate to equipment operation and chemical use.
Participate in the university’s trash/recycling program.
It is likely that staff will be moved on a regular basis, temporarily, to meet short-term business needs; such as summer cleans, special projects, shortages in other areas, etc

 

Qualifications:

Required:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform physically demanding job duties with or without an accommodation.
Ability to work with industrial-strength chemicals and equipment including buffers, scrubbers, and waxers.
Ability to clean materials containing bloodborne pathogens.
Effective time-management skills.
Attention to detail and basic customer service aptitude.
Positive interpersonal skills and willingness to work cooperatively in a team environment are essential.

Experience performing a variety of cleaning tasks.
