General Information:

The University Health Center (UHC) at James Madison University is accepting applications for a full-time Clinical Information Specialist. The successful candidate will serve as the clinical lead for the management of the electronic health record system (Medicat), including but not limited to training staff on eHR usage, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with product implementation. The successful candidate will also assist staff with technical support for computers, applications and related technology, and provide support including specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. The successful candidate will also be required to interact with application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique problems. The position's responsibilities require independent analysis, communication skills, and problem-solving skills.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Serves as the clinical lead for the electronic health record system
Implementation of all aspects of clinical operations of eHR system, including designing and maintaining forms, transactions, notes, etc.
Trains and orients staff on the use of hardware and software
Prepares installation instructions and end-user documentation
Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines
Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
Recommends and/or performs upgrades on systems to ensure longevity
Assists with researching and testing new software, new versions of existing software, mobile technologies, and other emerging technologies.

 

Qualifications:

Required
Excellent customer service skills
Experience troubleshooting networked devices
Experience troubleshooting desktops and their peripherals
Experience with Windows and MAC operating systems and mobile devices
Experience working with electronic health record systems
Ability to identify and resolve problems associated with operating system malfunctions
Ability to understand and follow detailed written and oral instructions
Ability to explain instructions and guidelines to others effectively
Ability to create end-user documentation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Additional Considerations:
Experience working with Medicat
Experience working in a clinical role within a medical setting
Experience working with a web content management system, ideally in Cascade
