General Information:

JMU Facilities Management is accepting applications for a Carpet Cleaning Technician. The shift for this position is Monday – Friday, 9:00 p.m. – 5:30 a.m., with overtime as required for special events and inclement weather.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Professionally clean and maintain and make minor repairs to all carpets at JMU to meet university standards.
• Perform all repairs and maintenance on equipment for optimal performance at all times.
• Continue to implement entrance mat & hard surface cleaning program.
• Provide accurate spreadsheet of chemical usage and equipment used for repairs for accurate inventory control for re-ordering purposes.
• Perform emergency water extractions when necessary.
• The employee in this position will be considered designated, meaning the work performed is essential to university operations and the employee will be required to work during periods of authorized closings.

 

Qualifications:

Required:
• Considerable knowledge of carpet cleaning techniques, and chemicals.
• Ability to operate industrial truck-mounted equipment and related attachments.
• Ability to work various shifts and hours.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Applicants must be at least 19 years old, possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 24 months, and have an acceptable motor vehicle report.
