General Information:
The Breeze is hiring its 2024-25 Breeze TV Floor Director. The student selected for this
position will help lead a broadcast news show that airs live.
Position begins April 1, with training during the weeks immediately after spring
break. Must be able to be back to campus two weeks prior to the beginning of the fall
semester.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares the set, including checking that mics and IFBs are ready for broadcast, and assists with camera blocking and placement
-Communicates with talent, guests, and the studio crew, providing timing cues, instructions, and directions
-Coordinates the movement of people and equipment in and out of the studio
-Troubleshoots technical issues, such as audio and lighting, and changes batteries
-Manages the audience and any others inside the studio not part of crew, including seating and cuing them
- Anticipates potential issues and solves problems promptly
-Documents the studio's technical and scenic set-up for each production (main example being election show).
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of what a newscast should look like
- Ability to lead a team
- Ability to work through stressful situations
- Ability to adapt on a moments notice (either fix or work with mistakes during the
show)
- Knows journalistic ethics
- Knowledgeable enough to guide and teach new members

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
