General Information:

JMU is currently hiring for an Auto Sprinkler Tech/Inspector. This position has the responsibility for the proper functioning of various automatic sprinkler and fire alarm systems at James Madison University campus in accordance with applicable regulations, policy and code.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Conducting physical and computer based inspections, preventative maintenance, and daily service to sprinkler systems in accordance with applicable regulations
•Assisting with maintaining adequate levels of equipment and supplies for all fire protection systems. Ensures that the Life Safety department has the right type and quantity of replacement parts on hand
•Maintaining automatic sprinkler systems and components, troubleshoot malfunctions and effect repairs
•Entering accurate records and reports into designated databases in a timely manner

 

Qualifications:

•Thorough knowledge of NFPA regulations, National Electric Code, OSHA requirements, general work safety procedures
•Working knowledge of the theory operation of various fire protection systems and equipment
•Must have significant journey-level or skilled experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of fire alarm systems
•Ability to follow written and verbal communications
•Must be available to temporarily work another shift based on business needs and requires on-call responsibilities
