General Information:

JMU, a full member of Sun Belt Conference, affiliate member of the American Athletic and Mid-American Conferences, and the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), seeks an Associate Director of Fan Engagement. This position is a full time, 12 month position with a full comprehensive benefits package.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement fan engagement outreach plans for JMU Athletics sport programs, including both game day/event programming and promotions as well as strategic campaigns to involve fans and the community that result in higher attendance and fan engagement.
  • Responsible for driving ticket sales and attendance utilizing strategic marketing plans that incorporate JMU Athletics digital marketing resources (Paciolan, Eloqua, etc.) to increase revenue while also engaging with the student body to promote attendance.
  • Collaborate with External Operations units on e-mail creation and social media campaigns for fans and student body; driving awareness and involvement for assigned sports.
  • Responsible for programs such as the Duke Dog Reading Program and other community focused special events as assigned.
  • Collaborate with JMU Sports Properties to assist in coordination and fulfillment of sponsorship obligations as they relate to contractual obligations for assigned sports. Works closely with Daktronics representative to make sure all game day needs and sponsorship fulfillment is being met around video boards.
  • Responsible for providing oversite and supervision to the Fan Engagement Assistants, aiding in their professional growth for their assigned sports.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in sports marketing or related field
  • Possess experience working in sports marketing, preferably in a campus setting.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required with preference given to candidates with Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier) experience
  • The ability to communicate effectively and work well with all JMU constituents – internal and external to better enhance relationships
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to perform detail-oriented and creative work
  • Ability to lead young professionals and cultivate their professional growth in the sports marketing industry
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends

Preferred:

  • Experience in Collegiate Athletics, specifically Marketing/Fan Engagement/Promotions
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Previous supervision of other employees or student workers
