General Information:
The Department of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies at James Madison University offers an engaging and dynamic Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences curriculum. The Health Sciences major is a popular major at JMU with approximately 1500 total students declared and is designed for students interested in understanding the causes of disease, strategies for promoting health, wellness, and behavior change, and the scientific basis and methodologies for analyzing health for both individuals and populations. Upon degree completion, graduates are prepared for immediate employment in multiple allied health areas or a pathway to graduate studies in a variety of disciplines, including medicine, optometry, pharmacy, nursing, public health, physical rehabilitation, and other professional preparation programs. The successful candidate will join a strong and engaged faculty at one of the nation’s outstanding public universities. Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:
• Teach undergraduate major and elective courses in our Health Sciences curriculum (https://www.healthsci.jmu.edu/).
• Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship
• Participate in service at the departmental, college, and university levels
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Earned doctoral degree within an area of health sciences; (ABD applicants will be considered with evidence of continued progress and completion of degree by August 1, 2026).
• Identified scholarly research agenda and plan for scholarly activity.
• Demonstrated potential and/or experience in teaching courses in areas contributing to our engaging and broad curriculum, including but not limited to social determinants of health, statistical methods, chronic or infectious human diseases, environmental health, program planning, health research methods, ethics in healthcare, and biomechanics for healthcare professionals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships with faculty across disciplines and departments
• Evidence of interdisciplinary/interprofessional scholarship and/or teaching
• Evidence of scholarly activity through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or creative works
• Professional credential within respective discipline
