General Information:
The Center for Global Engagement (CGE) is seeking an Assistant Director of Engagement and Outreach. This position will report to the Associate Director of Study Abroad Programs and provide leadership for a growing team of professional and student staff dedicated to expanding study abroad engagement outreach. The Assistant Director of Engagement and Outreach will be responsible for developing and implementing a multi-faceted communications plan, managing the Global Ambassador and Global Duke programs, collaborating with marketing stakeholders, assisting with event management, and providing leadership on internship abroad programs by serving as an instructor and program director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
#1 Alongside the study abroad leadership team, create and implement a communications plan to meet the goal to of increasing study abroad participation to become a leader in the state and among peer institutions.
#2 Oversee all aspects of the design and production of print and digital promotional materials for study abroad programs, including email and social media campaigns, informational brochures and fliers, print and digital signage, media for the Study Abroad webpages, advertisements, and other promotional items as part of implementing the communications plan.
#3 Manage the study abroad returnee students who are part of the Global Ambassador and Global Duke programs to 1) continue student growth and development upon return from study abroad programming and 2) effectively use these programs to meet study abroad goals.
#4 Collaborate with key campus stakeholders including the Office of Admissions, the Office of Orientation and Transition, the Centennial Scholars Program, University Marketing and Branding, University Communications, and others, to promote study abroad opportunities, and represent study abroad with prospective students and families.
#5 In partnership with the Associate Director of Study Abroad Programs, provide support on all large- and small-scale engagement events including but not limited to the Study Abroad Fair (1000+ in attendance), Family Weekend Fair (500+ in attendance), and Study Abroad Week (600+ in attendance spread among 5-10 events) and other smaller events throughout the year.
#6 Serve as a program director and course instructor for study abroad programs, which includes instructing up to four courses per year, creating course syllabi, grading student assignments, and traveling abroad as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
-Significant professional experience in marketing, outreach, or communications. This experience in an international education context is a plus.
-Previous experience implementing a successful engagement and outreach strategy or communications plan.
-Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with campus stakeholders and students.
-Excellent time management and organizational skills with willingness and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, including long and short-term projects and events.
-Demonstrated ability to be adaptable, flexible, and navigate ambiguity.
-Familiarity with design software including Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and other platforms.
-Significant professional experience in the field of education abroad.
-Previous experience leading courses abroad.

-Prior experience in an international office.
-Experience with instructing college-level courses.
-Experience supervising students and aiding in their growth and development.
-Previous experience living, working, or studying abroad.
-Intercultural communication skills and ability to work with non-English speaking individuals.
-Demonstrated knowledge of marketing campaign-based software.
