General Information:
Become a valuable part of the JMU Community! The Early, Elementary, Reading Education (EERE) department in the College of Education at James Madison University (JMU) are accepting applications for a part-time Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant represents James Madison University in all interactions and must exhibit high standards of professionalism and customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Providing clerical support to the EERE department head and faculty by providing well-organized office system support and helping to ensure documentation and records are maintained.
Accessing and maintaining JMU databases, specifically by managing correspondence with students in programs.
Composing, editing, monitoring and distributing materials handled in the main office.
Event planning and coordinating for departments.
Providing neat, professional, efficient, and competent work while paying close attention to detail.
Maintaining records and filing systems for the departments.
Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Programs, especially Excel and Word.
Maintaining a general understanding of the role and composition of programs within departments, departments within the colleges and colleges within the university.
Maintaining general knowledge of office equipment such as copiers and printers.
Other duties as assigned by the Dean in the College of Education.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
-Strong written language skills and customer service skills.
-Excellent data management skills.
-Technical training/experience in computer applications.
-Ability to work independently.
-Understanding of office management best practices.
Additional Considerations:
-Experience with JMU Student Administration system is beneficial but not required.
Conditions of Employment:
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
This is a part-time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
